Kelvin was born in Recife and raised in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. He began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2012 and quickly developed a passion for the art that would shape his life and career.
Now a black belt under Professor Jorge Britto of Toronto BJJ, Kelvin brings over a decade of teaching experience to the mats. He has competed extensively, earning medals across multiple divisions, and continues to stay active in training and competition.
Beyond competing, Kelvin has contributed to the growth of Jiu-Jitsu in Canada through his involvement in organizing major events such as NextGen BJJ, IBJJF, and ADCC tournaments.
As the founder and head instructor of Cambridge BJJ, one of the leading academies in Cambridge, Ontario. Kelvin has built a strong and growing community, helping hundreds of students develop confidence, discipline, and resilience through Jiu-Jitsu.
His journey hasn’t been without challenges. After undergoing hip replacement surgery, Kelvin returned to training and continues to lead from the front, a reflection of the mindset he teaches every day: consistency, discipline, and the refusal to quit.
